At CIBO, we believe all agriculture products should be paying attention to how to remain climate-resilient in the face of climate change. Wines and Chardonnay are an essential part of everyday life across the globe.
This year, we hope to bring the importance of enjoying the wine and focusing on how to make it sustainable for generations to come.
Climate change adaptation is a key to the future of agriculture, a particularly vulnerable economic sector that depends heavily on weather and climatic conditions. Climate change adaptation can broadly be defined as “the set of actions and processes that societies must take to limit the negative impacts of the changes and maximize their beneficial effect” (Carter, 1996).

In memoriam to Steven Spurrier, modern day explorer, warrior in wine industry, terroir interpreter, and dedicated to making Chardonnay better!
Steven Spurrier was a British wine expert and merchant who was described as a champion of French wine. Spurrier organised the Paris Wine Tasting of 1976, which unexpectedly elevated the status of California wine and promoted the expansion of wine production in the New World.
These are the #Chardonnay I found in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Mainly from Chile and Mexico, which is a great sign for the local wine industry that it is trusting this noble variety!

It’s World Chardonnay Day & what a wonderful grape it is to celebrate! Grateful for our 26 year old Chardonnay vines that are some of the oldest planted in England. Ridgeview & so many of our friends in the English wine industry have proven that Southern England is a fantastic cool climate, perfect for producing Chardonnay for the foundation of classic method sparkling wine.
Locust Lane Winery in Beamsville Ontario
Our Chardonnay by winemaker Jeff Innes is a Chardonnay, honest and true with no oak influence. Fresh, vibrant nose of apple, pear and peach along with hints of citrus, lemongrass and starfruit. A crisp and clean palate ending in a fresh citrus finish.

Watch Jim and Eliza Scherrer at their chicken coop celebrate World Chardonnay Day with a bottle of their favorite Columbia River Valley, Chateau St. Michele.
Check out the storied Columbia River Valley's rise into viticulture. Allen Shoup, president of Washington State's largest winery Chateau Ste. Michelle, understood the importance of obtaining appellation status for Washington State to grow the reputation of the vineyards. He hired Drs. Wade Wolfe and Walter Clore to petition the federal government for appellation status, a request that was granted in 1984.

CIBO celebrates the social, cultural, and agricultural importance of chardonnay wine across the world. While the taste is influenced by the process winemakers go through for production, it also depends on one key ingredient, the soil.
Celebrate Soil Health on World Chardonnay Day!
At CIBO, we are proud to bring attention to the agronomy behind wine production. Beneath every grape is a plot of soil that helped to nurture and grow the fruit. This year, we hope to celebrate the importance of soil at vineyards around the globe.
